For small businesses

Describe your business. Get a website you'd be happy to hand out.

Not one long page with a form at the bottom. A real site with the pages people actually look for, your own web address on it, and everyone who gets in touch kept in one place.

Free to start. No credit card required.

Getting started

Three ways in, and none of them need you to know what you want it to look like.

You know your business. That is the only part nobody else can do for you.

1

Type a few sentences

What you do, who you do it for, where you are. If something important is missing, it asks you rather than making it up.

2

Say it out loud

Describe the business in your own words and it listens. You can ask for changes the same way later, which is easier than typing when your hands are busy.

3

Point at the site you already have

Paste the address of your current website and the pages and words come across, so you are not writing it all out again.

Before anything is designed you get a plan of what each page will say. You read it, change what is wrong, and only then does it build.

What you actually get

A proper site, with the pages people look for.

Most businesses need more than a home page: what you do, who you are, how to reach you, and often a menu, a price list or a list of what you sell. You get those as real pages, with pictures, and they work on a phone.

  • More than one pageSo somebody can find your opening hours without scrolling past everything else on the way.
  • Your own web addressYour domain, with the hosting and the padlock in the address bar included, on the paid plan.
  • It loads quicklyThe pages are prepared in advance and served from computers near whoever is looking at them.

Choosing the look

You don't have to describe a style you can't name.

You get three complete versions of your site to look at. Same words, same pages — only the look is different. Pick the one you like. If none of them is right, ask for another set; a site can hold up to ten, and you can change which one is showing whenever you want.

The people who get in touch

One list, instead of an inbox you keep meaning to sort out.

The contact form is part of the site. There is nothing extra to sign up for, nothing to paste in, and no second account to lose the password to. When somebody fills it in, they arrive as a contact with a note of when they got in touch and what they said.

Nothing gets forwarded and lost

Enquiries are kept with the site, and you can look at all of them in one list.

Each one becomes a contact

With a record of what has already been said, so you are not searching an email thread to remember.

It doesn't cost more when it works

Enquiries are not counted and not charged for. A busy month is just a busy month.

Changing it later

Change the thing by clicking on it.

Prices go up. Hours change. You take a better photo. Click the bit you want to change and change it, or say what you want in a sentence and let it make the change for you. If it comes out wrong, put it back — every version is kept, so you can always return to how it was.

What it costs

Free while you're deciding. $20 a month once it's live on your own address.

If you take the site down, the charge stops. The month you have already paid for is not refunded, and the site stays in your account so you can put it back up later.

Sites built the same way

All of these started as a description of a business.

Nobody drew them first. Somebody said what the business does, and this is what came out.

The sensible questions

Things people ask before they start.

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. You describe the business, read the plan of what each page will say, and pick the version you like. Changing something later means clicking on it, or asking for the change in a sentence.

Can I use the web address I already own?

Yes, on the paid plan. Your own domain comes with the hosting and the padlock in the address bar. The free plan publishes to a Mondovo address instead, which is fine while you are deciding.

I already have a website. Do I have to start again?

No. Paste its address and the pages and words come across, then the design is rebuilt around them. If it is a WordPress site, the posts come too.

What if I don't like any of the three?

Ask for another set. A site can hold up to ten versions and you choose which one is live, so changing your mind in six months is a click rather than a rebuild.

What if I want to stop?

Take the site down and the charge stops. The month you have already paid for is not refunded. The site stays in your account, so if you want it back later it is still there.

Can someone else help me look after it?

Yes. The paid plan includes three people on the account, and each extra person is $10 a month. Whoever changes something is recorded, and anything can be put back.
