The chat widget is an assistant on your website. It answers visitors' questions, captures their details as leads, and can take bookings.
Steps
- Open Site settings → Chat widget (or press
Cmd+Kand type "chat widget"). - Switch the widget on.
- Work through the tabs: Appearance, Chat Flows, AI & Knowledge, Leads (which details to ask for) and Voice.
- Open Test & Preview and ask it what a customer would ask.
- Click Publish so visitors get the new version.
Teach it about your business
It already knows your business details and your site's content, such as services, FAQs, menu items and products, and learns your changes. To add more, open Site settings → Knowledge (or the AI & Knowledge tab) and add what visitors ask about that is not on your site: policies, delivery areas, parking, payment options. Be specific: "We deliver within 10 miles of the city centre, free over £40" beats "local delivery available".
What visitors can do
- Ask about your services, prices, hours and policies.
- Leave their details or ask to talk to a person. You get an email and they appear under Needs a reply.
- Book an appointment, if bookings are on.
- Check on their own order or booking, after confirming who they are.
Good to know
- Chats appear in Messages & customers → Inbox → Conversations. Questions it could not answer show you what knowledge to add.
- To let visitors talk out loud, see Turn on the Voice Agent.
