Your Voice Agent can answer calls to your business phone number. It uses the same knowledge, greeting and lead capture as your website, from the same monthly minutes. You keep your own phone provider and number.
Before you start
- The Voice Agent must be active on the site. See Turn on the Voice Agent.
- A phone number with Exotel, Twilio or Plivo that can receive calls.
Steps
- Open Site settings → Chat widget → Voice and find Phone numbers under the active Voice Agent.
- Pick your provider and click Show instructions.
- Copy the address shown and paste it into your number's settings at your provider:
- Twilio: under Voice, set "A call comes in" to Webhook, paste the address and choose HTTP POST.
- Plivo: create an application, paste the address as its Answer URL with method POST, then choose that application for your number.
- Exotel: in App Bazaar, create a flow with a Voicebot step and paste the address there, then assign the flow to your number. Ask Exotel support to switch on Voicebot for your account if you do not see it.
- Save, then call your number. The agent should greet you and answer questions about your business.
Good to know
- The agent answers incoming calls only. It does not make calls.
- Your provider bills you for the number and the call minutes. Call time also comes off your Voice Agent minutes.
- Leads from calls appear in your inbox.
- To let callers reach a person, add a step after the agent in your provider's call flow, such as a Connect step in Exotel.
- Recent call attempts, with any reason a call was declined, show in the Voice tab.
- Treat the address like a password. If it leaks, reset it there and the old one stops answering.
