Set up text messaging (SMS) for your site

Connect your own Twilio account, use or buy a US number, and turn on texting. Twilio bills you for messages; Mondovo charges a per-site add-on.

Your site can send texts, such as booking reminders and follow-ups, from a phone number in your own Twilio account.

Before you start

  • A Twilio account that is upgraded (not a trial) and funded.
  • A US +1 local number. Toll-free, Canadian and other international numbers are not covered by this setup yet.

Steps

  1. Open Site settings → Integrations → Phone & SMS.
  2. Enter your Twilio Account SID and Auth Token from the Twilio Console. They are stored encrypted.
  3. Click Find my Twilio numbers. No number yet? Search for a US local number, check the price Twilio quotes, and confirm to buy it in your Twilio account.
  4. Register the number for US texting if it is not approved yet. See Register your number for US texting.
  5. Activate the SMS add-on for the site.
  6. Choose your approved number, click Connect selected number, and send a manual test to a phone you control.

What it costs

  • Twilio bills your own account for the number, each text, and US registration fees. Mondovo never pays these for you or adds to them.
  • Mondovo's SMS add-on is a monthly fee per site. See Pricing. Credits are not used for texting.
  • If the add-on is unpaid, texting pauses. Your number and registration are kept.

Good to know

  • Texts only go to people who opted in. See Collect SMS consent and handle opt-outs.
  • Twilio accepting a test means it was sent, not that it was delivered. Check the phone.
  • Each site connects one sending number.
